(This layout has now been retired as the fiddle yard section has been altered and reused for the New Hythe layout currently under construction)

This is a double track continuous run layout designed to allow intensive movement at exhibitions.

We have tried to keep the period and location as vague as possible to allow the use of a wide range of stock, thus at various times there will be steam operation, Corporate BR diesel/electric traction, or post-privatisation TOC stock.

Although generally run as a DC layout, Stonefleet has the capability to be run as a DCC (or even Zero-One) layout, depending on the availability of suitable stock.

Features include a station with booking hall at street level accessing an Island platform, and a passing loop.Traffic is controlled from an unusual gantry mounted signal cabin.

A new housing estate has sprung up on the site of the former goods yard with some very houseproud residents.

Local industry consists of an engineering company and a fuel distribution depot, both with rail access.

Leaving town a footpath takes us over the river, adjacent to which the local scout group have a camp in a wooded area and are engaged in trying to start a campfire, so that they can cook lunch.

Further pictures of Stonefleet can be seen in the Gallery section.
